How long have you worked in case management?
I have been working in case management for 22 years.
How did you find your way into the profession?
I knew our CEO since I was in elementary school because I was good friends with his son. After I graduated college, he asked me if I wanted to come work for him and I’ve been here ever since.
What is your favorite thing about being a case manager?
I enjoy working a case from beginning to end. It’s great to work with the agent on the front end to develop a case and run illustrations, and then see it all the way through underwriting, policy issue, and placement. It is very satisfying when you see the hard work pay off.
How has the NCCM certification impacted your career?
I’ve included the designation on my email and I’ve had some agents ask me about it. I think it makes them feel like their cases are in good hands and they are working with an agency that have well-trained and qualified staff.
What was the most valuable part of the NCCM certification course for you, and why?
When you have been doing case management as long as I have, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut of how you go about your day and how you communicate to your agents. The course was not only a great refresher on the things that I have been doing for so long, but I also picked up a lot of new information that will make me a better and more efficient case manager.
