A Commitment to Brokerage
This past December, MassMutual Strategic Distributors joined with 80+ companies (mainly brokerage general agencies and tech firms) in the goal of increasing placement, efficiency, and reducing cycle time by certifying their case managers through NAILBA.
The NAILBA Case Manager Certification Program launched the past year, helping to train and develop new case managers on the life insurance case management process, while certifying existing case managers on key skills, responsibilities, and best practices essential for their role. The program, which has been designed with a life insurance focus, consists of eight on-line learning modules with mastery quizzes for each module. The program concludes with a 175-question online comprehensive certification exam. Participants must pass the exam with a score of 70 or higher to complete the curriculum.
“At a time when some insurance carriers are leaning out, MassMutual Strategic Distributors is leaning in,” commented Dan LaBert, CEO of NAILBA. “After speaking with both Lisa Todd, Head of Life/Disability Insurance Distribution and Melinda Marcotte, Head of Life New Business Digital Operations, they openly shared their excitement to work with brokerage general agencies and ensure a smooth application process. They made the commitment to have all of their new business case managers become NAILBA Certified!”
The NAILBA Certified Case Manager (NCCM) credential is the marker of a committed case management professional, demonstrating a wide range of knowledge essential to managing life insurance cases in today’s challenging insurance environment. The NCCM credential not only advances individual careers, it also empowers entire organizations in cultivating a “NCCM culture.” When advisors or clients choose a brokerage agency and/or carrier to engage with, participants can discuss the process with confidence knowing their front line personnel are NAILBA certified.
Case managers play a vital role in the insurance process. The NCCM certification will send the message that your agency, home office, etc. possess advanced case manager(s) who have an indepth understanding of all facets of the life insurance process. Certified case managers can confidently negotiate and influence a situation to achieve a successful outcome. It gives them the tools to serve as sharp, business-minded individuals who don’t shy away from finance, insurance or medical terminology. When it comes to problem-solving, NCCMs will excel at keeping track of the details, and won’t be afraid to dive deeper. In summary, the NCCM certification helps foster the relationship between brokerage general agencies, independent advisors, insurance carriers, and perhaps most importantly, the client.
NAILBA thanks MassMutual Strategic Distributors and the other 80+ companies for the commitment to brokerage and an investment in professional development for their teams. Having professional development adds value to both the organization and the employee through a better-educated workforce, which can improve the efficiency of operations.
NAILBA’s Case Manager certification is meeting a need in the financial services industry for consistent training and continuing education for the case management community.
